School History

Nestled in the shadow of the rugged yet majestic San Gabriel Mountains lies the historic San Gabriel Valley. At the heart of the valley is the city of San Gabriel, a close-knit community founded in 1868. Less than two miles from the historic San Gabriel Mission is Woodrow Wilson Elementary School. The original campus was built with graceful arches and a red tile roof. Wilson Elementary belongs to the San Gabriel Unified School District, one of the oldest Districts in the state. The excitement of learning taking place in each classroom is evidenced by the positive energy permeating every corner of our campus. Wilson was built in 1929. It has gone through a series of changes over the years, including a fire to the third wing in 1988. Wilson is scheduled for modernization in the fall of 2024. Wilson continues to thrive and maintain a positive and caring learning environment for all students.
